You know, sometimes I wonder what it is about SL that gets me to play it. It’s buggy, laggy, and unstable. It’s hard to find people on and things to do. A pack of monkeys could design a better interface. Seriously, what is it about SL that’s so compelling?

This, friends, is why I play SL.

Lily contemplates her existance next to the beach fire.

Ever since I logged onto both Vel and Lily at once, I’ve been wondering where Lily fits into my online persona which, until this point, has mostly focused on Vel. Vel, as you all have come to know and love, is a snarky, sexy, rather silly Neko, with a heavy penchant for bondage. She can domme pretty well in a session, but after having a few D/s relationships where she was the D fall apart, she’s decided that really isn’t for her. She’s generally intersted in heavy bondage, ponyplay, loves gags and armbinders, as well as leather and steel (not to the exlusion of rope, though), and loves really being stuck in bondage. (thus a real love for the Restrained Life viewer.) She loves the friends she’s made in SL, and considers them some of the most precious thing she has, real life included.

Who is Lily? What does she like?

Well, Vel’s general interests really mirror those of her human, so it would pretty well follow that Lily’s intersts would be very similar to Vel’s. However, Lily finds herself in an intersting spot; while Vel is often stuck in bondage somewhere, Lily isn’t, allowing her to run off and play when Vel can’t. Lily can also get herself stuck without worrying about keeping Vel from getting to Master. There have been a lot of things Vel has wanted to try that she hasn’t been able to, since she doesn’t want to be kept away from Master for too long. Thus, Lily’s intersts mirror Vel’s for a large degree, with the addition that she’s generally free to get herself stuck in situations Vel would be hesitant to get into.

What about personality though? While I’ve always thought of Lily as being a bit more “serious” than Vel, I’ve found that I really can’t quite pull that off. I enjoy banter, and snarking off, and Lily inherits that. Lily does feel a little more serious, but that might be because she doesn’t know as many people as Vel does. Both tend to need to get to know a group before they can open up properly, and Lily is generally around different people than Vel is.

So, I guess that really leads me to the conclusion that Lily is my play avatar. She allows Master to have a hectic, busy schedule and not worry about Vel going nuts in bondage. She’s also an outlet to experience things that are rather off limits for Vel.

One last note: If she’s not so different from Vel, why make her look so different?

Well, for one, being a Neko as somewhat of a curse within a blessing. I wouldn’t change that part of Vel’s identity for the world, but it is aweful nice to be able to wear earrings and belly pearcings again. Also, how many brunettes do you really see in SL? There are plenty of blonde bombshells, red-headed vixens, and raven-haired beauttes in Second Life, but not near enough representatives of a perfectly pretty hair color.

There’s another thing she inherited from Vel… ever seen Vel with anything other than red hair? Well, besides those wild pink hair styles she has? It’s just easier to settle on one color. I don’t have the money to buy every color of all the hairs I like. Lily does do one thing different than Vel though. Her hair tends to be shorter. :)

Thoughts?

No, its not next to the fire. Kicking myself for not taking a picture of that.

No, it's not next to the fire. Kicking myself for not taking a picture of that.

I sit by the campfire, snuggling a skinny, long-legged brunette elf. My arms are trapped behind me in a singlesleeve, so it feels good to have someone to cuddle with. We’ve only just met, but I feel like I already know her…

In another window of the same computer, a skinny, female form with long elfin ears snuggles with a long-haired red headed neko, whom she has only just met but known for a while.

Yup… you’ve probably guessed it… using multiple instances of Second Life, I have now managed to cuddle with myself (more…)

I discovered something last night, something that’s making me kick myself for any and every instance of trying to get Master to move.

You see, I normally hate mainland. It’s a noobridden, griefer infested, often laggy, ad-saturated mess most of the time. We have had two neighbors now that have given us trouble, and I always wanted out.

Until, that is, I discovered we’re on the shoreline to a good 30 open-sea “protected land” sims.

I own a sailboat.

Hey all, just thought I should say that I haven’t left the blog to die… and yeah, that’s all I have for now…

Hmmm, how about a teaser for my next blog post?

A while back, I was invited to a Facebook group. It wasn’t one of your run of the mill Facebook activist-ey types of groups, or those that you join because you support the message or think it’s funny. No, this group was promoting and supporting Acetone Urban Tank Tops, a tank top maker in Second Life.

Now, I don’t suppose it’s all that strange when you think about it. There are a myriad of SL content creators with blogs and the like advertising their products and letting customers know about new product releases, as well as allowing customers to easily provide feedback. As we’ll see, the latter is just as important as the former. :)

Anyway, I decided to give the shop a look, and I was really impressed! These aren’t your average tank tops; the texture quality is great, with a lot of very unique and memorable designs.

Left to right: Pelican, Elementary my dear Watson, Crusade, Telepathy, Wingbeat, Tied, Crush.

However, I did spot one problem; her tanktops were only available in the shirt layer! when you like to wear a tattoo on the bra layer like I do, then it’s nice to have bras in the shirt layer and tops in the jacket layer. However, I could live without it for most of these… I mean, it’s nice to be able to wear a bikini top underneath a tank, but I don’t have to. ^.^

However, there was one I absolutely had to have in the jacket layer: a sheer tank with a cross pattern on it called Crosshair. This top just begged to be worn over a bra, and being sheer, would be great for showing off my tattoo! Yes, I could just wear it without the bra, but I find going around everywhere with my nipples showing kinda tasteless.

So, taking advantage of Facebook’s group messaging capabilities (each group essentially gets it’s own message board), and wrote that I liked the tanks, but it would be really nice to have them in the jacket layer.

Well, boy did I get a treat! Not only did she send me a copy of the tank I had previously bought (Wingbeat) in the jacket layer, she also sent me Crosshair in the jacket layer, which I hadn’t bought because of it wasn’t in that layer. These are now available for purchase in her main store in Achlya, if any of my readers are interested. ^.^

Anyway, more on the tanktops. Most are available for a very reasonable 55L, and some are available for only 35L, making them quite affordable as well as being good looking! Crosshair is 110L and comes in three colors; black, white, and red. All her tanks are mod/copy/no transfer, which is excellent if you want to recolor (Like, say, the white crosstop ^.^), but not so good if you want to gift them. I haven’t asked if she’s willing to sell no copy/transfer versions, but as nice as she was with me, it can’t hurt to ask. :)

Anyway, I suppose the lesson here is that open and obvious lines of communication help keep customers happy! Oh, and Acetone has great tank tops. ^.^

In the tradition of fashion blogs, here’s a rundown of all the items shown in the pictures:

In the first picture, we have tanktops from, of course, Acetone; short jean hotpants from Drawmachine, wood wedge platforms from Shiny Things, tropical bangles from JK Jewelry, and Jenny hair and “warm” bracelets from Here Comes Trouble.

In the second, the Crosshair tank from Acetone, black leather teaser skirt from Ravenwear, black satin lingerie from Style Starts Here, Kit boots in onyx from Jaywalk, Caged V collar in silver from Ephemeral Creations, and buckled arm cuffs from Hexed.

My skin is Venus from Adam n Eve, and my Neko parts are all from Hybrid. :)

Well, as I mentioned on a previous post on the Subbie Union site, It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do a lot of bondage stuff with Master. Sure, I can tie myself up easy enough in SL, but it’s just not the same (No motivation to actually stay tied up and not cheat out when it becomes inconvenient, for example). However, recently Master has been at least attempting to get on more often, and we’ve gotten so much more time together, which means I’ve been tied up more!

That brings me to last night. Master had told me in email earlier that he had a game in mind that involved being blindfolded, if I was in the mood for it. Since we generally don’t get a whole lot of time together I’m usually in the mood for anything, but past experience has shown that me not being in the mood for something can ruin an evening…

Now, I have a love/hate relationship with SL blindfolds (mostly hate). Firstly, I’m a very visual person. It really affects my enjoyment of a scene in SL if I can see what’s happening. Yes, we can emote it and I can use my imagination, but it’s not the same for me. (For the uninitiated, most serious SL blindfolds use a hud to cover up the screen and simulate a real blindfold.)

Second, unlike it’s real life counterpart, Second Life bondage play lacks the tactile element entirely. I can’tInside a virtual blindfold feel the leather and steel against my skin, so I really have to see it to get the full impact. (I don’t want a lot of real-life details to seep into this blog, but I will mention that I love blindfolds in real life. They really enhance the sense of helplessness and the feel of the restraints. Anyway…)
However, Master was on, and he had a game he wanted to play that involved a blindfold, so I went for it. That’s the best way to use a blindfold anyway, as part of a game, or to actively accentuate a scene, not just stuck on for the hell of it.

The game was this: I was to be shackled, arms in a U and hobbled, gagged, and blindfold set so that I could just barely see through. (Medium, for those familiar with Marine’s blindfold.) Then we would go to Bondage Ranch, which for those of you unfamiliar with it is almost always crowded. Master would run off and find a place to stand, and I would have to go find him. He would find a new spot every 3 minutes, and he would avoid the crowd; once I found him, I had to touch him and greet him as my Master. I had 30 minutes. If I lost, I would be locked up in Sables Bane helmet, naked, in a public place. If I won, he would take me out for a romantic night dancing, at a sim that’s a mockup of the TItanic. We’ve been once before, and we enjoyed it immensely.

Well, he got me set up at the ranch, then took off, and I after him. I immediately got worried, ’cause I could hardly see anything! I couldn’t even tell where any people were until I got right on top of them! The next day was my day off too, and I did not look forward to spending it in that helmet!

It was his moving every three minutes that did it. I might not be able to see much, but motion is so much easier to pick out than static objects, and I caught some movement a bit away from me and zeroed in on that. Turned out to be Master! I walked right up to him and said, “Memmo Mafmem!” (I was gagged, after all).

All in all, I took only ten minutes to find him. Afterward, he went and sat on a bench and hogtied me at his feet, which is a favorite of his. A fun night with Master, and now he owes me dancing! Yay!

Until next time,

- Vel
